Coming together for education…Café provides a forum to highlight upcoming opportunities to connect, to learn together and share all assets and resources in support of education. Individuals and organizations with this shared interest are encouraged to submit newly launched resources or information related to upcoming conferences, speaker events or community gatherings in support of education.
Community Development Learning Initiative (CDLI)
CDLI is an emerging learning initiative that is beginning to explore the kind of learning supports that are needed to strengthen citizen based community development in Calgary. Recognizing that community development(CD) is a complex, ever-evolving and action oriented learning process, there is an expressed desire amongst those involved in CD to participate in ongoing learning. A feasibility study commissioned by the UW of Calgary and Area, The City of Calgary, Community and Neighbourhood Services, Family and Community Support Services and the Calgary Foundation found that the most effective way to become a successful community builder is through learning in action. CDLI intends to create opportunities where citizens, community development practitioners, supporters and funders can learn by doing, an action/reflection approach to determine what works and what doesn’t. CDLI intends to be a resource and support to citizens, CD practitioners and partners as they learn about effective ways of building strong communities.
Please save the date and join us for our next CDLI Meet Up # 4 to connect, share and learn about Community Development. This Meet Up is scheduled for November 4 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Bridgeland Community Association, Lower Hall!
